Ancient city, proud on matriculation to the act of UNESCO, is well-known by its mines, museums and galleries, beautiful nature, thermal springs and many artificial lakes (reservoirs) so called "taichs". There are picturesque aisles, surrounded by simple houses of miners and mediaeval residences on the town square. They encourage you to walk and discover mystical quiet corners of this nice historical city. Stiavnické vrchy mountains, by which is the town surrounded, offer great sport possibilities – walking, cycling, horse – riding, hunting or fishing. In summer you can enjoy water sports on more than 20 lakes. In winter the cross-country skiers have more than 40 km of technical tracks at their disposal. The degree of their difficulty varies.
